With 6 minutes left in the game.... Kaitlin went down and went down hard!

Looks like she's out for the season. Only 2 games into the high school varsity season and #17 from Conifer High School took my baby girl out. Totally unintentional - just part of the game - no harm, no foul...ok...well there was harm ;-)

Kaitlin doesn't even remember how she fell, she only remembers falling and hearing 3 pops. She did save the goal - YAY Kaitlin!! (they ended up losing 1-0)

She was playing defense as usual, and went to cross off the angle (of said #17 who is their lead scorer by the way) and they collided. She went down and went down hard on the field. We could see her crying and was hoping it was a twist, or just initial tears from the impact, but we watched her body shudder and knew she was crying and crying good. Ref's blew the whistle and the coach and trainer came onto the field... she tried hobbling off with one arm around the coach and the other arm around the trainer but pulled that foot right back up, not bearing any weight on it. We sat and watched the rest of the game (In high school/club you aren't allowed to go onto the field or to the other side of the field unless the ref's allow it) She was being tended to by their trainer and as soon as the game got over, we b-lined it over there.

The trainer seemed worried that she had a bone chip on the inner part of her ankle near her heel. It wasn't too swollen there, however, was most tender. She recommended we take her straight to an ER. The trainer said it was one of the top 5 injuries she has seen this school year. Later when our trainer looked at it, she said she hadn't seen a sprain that bad in 4-5 years!

We headed down the mountain to the nearest Kaiser - got there 10 minutes before they closed. The xrayed her, consulted with us- no breaks severe sprain - gave her a big ol black walking boot, crutches and some vicodin and we were on our way in 40 minutes time. YAY Kaiser!!

About a week later things just seemed weird. We started thinking, surely it's broken... she still can't bear any weight on it. It's still hurting her. When she'd walk in her boot, her foot woould pop, her bones would grind in her knee and ankle area. It was just looking worse and worse. So we got her into the orthopedic doctor about 1 week after the sprain. As she was taking her boot off all the nurses and doctors were saying 'ewwwwww'', 'ohhhhhhh', 'ouuuuuch' everyone thought it was more than a sprain....but the doctor checked it out and said. 'Not broken, just "King of all Sprains" It could take a few months if not up to a year to completley heal! Poor thing, looks like she's out for the season... but we do have hope.

She is still going to soccer practice and helping out however she can. She has to see the trainer everyday during practice to do rehab. At this point it's just ice baths for her foot and flexing and pointing her foot. Soon they will start A B C's with her foot and resistance bands and some other painful exercises Kaitlin says! (She's sprained her ankle - tho not as severe- 1 other time and did these rehab exercises with her trainer and was back out on the field after 1.5 weeks). We think, all depending how rehab goes this time around. she may (and I use that term may very loosely) be able to play the last game or 2 in May.

Downtown and Little Man's

On 16th Street in The Highlands neighborhood is Little Man's Ice Cream. A quaint little place that is sure to please. We found Little Man's in early summer and have gone numerous times. They make their ice cream, sorbet and gelato fresh every day, so the flavors will differ frequently.

A short walk over I-25 and over the Platte River into downtown, right near Union Station and Confluence Park. It's fun to explore downtown.

Make sure if you go, you wave to the drivers below. It's fun seeing how many wave back and hearing the trucks blow their horns

Homecoming 2010

Glenn had plans to go to homecoming. Those plans were all but foiled, by his own doing, due to his grades. But in the 11th hour, he pulled them up. No surprise there... Glennie works well in the 11th hour!! :) But even though his grades were better, they aren't the best... so he could not drive himself and Aubrey to homecoming, rather than, call a limo service. They got lucky and got a minivan to drop them off (Aubrey's parents) and a Nissan Versa (REALLY short limo) to pick them up (Glenn and I)

Aubrey was dropped off at our house which we turned into G&T Steakhouse. After a quick photo shoot, onward to their dinner reservation and meal. Glenn was Chef 'G' for the night and I was the hostess. We took out the leaf in our table, set the settings with china and crystal candle holders, lit the candles, moved away all the chairs and played some classical music for them.

G&T Steakhouse Menu - only took Glenn and I about 2 hrs to make this up. Then when we decided it was perfect, we laminated it. Some of the items were crossed out, we explained to our patrons that we ran out of the 'crossed out' items earlier that week.

Glenn turned 17 on August 10th. Here's a photo of him on his blessing day, he was about 1 month old. He always puckered his lips like this, was SO cute!!

Seriously can't believe I have a kid who is ... 17

Say it aint so!! Just seems crazy!! I can't believe that 17 years have gone by. My 5lb 11oz baby turned into a 143lb. 5'8" young man, getting whiskers, muscles, deep voice and a girlfriend to boot.

Glenn was born 3 weeks early. I had to be induced. I had hypertension, was on bed rest and blood pressure was to the point they were not too thrilled. So into the hospital the night before to 'prep' my uterus. I was not ready to have this baby, he was NOT ready to come out. They started me on pitocin the next morning, right at 6AM. Long drawn out day. Pain was not fun and I think they gave me demerol?? Not sure... but I remember being loopy and my Auntie Dianne calling me and laughing at/with me!! :)

So finally 9 at night comes around... they check me, I was at a 4 and they start the blood work for the epidural. They tell me to go to the bathroom one more time... I felt like pushing. I tell Glenn, 'somethings not right but it realllllllly hurts and my body was just pushing.. get the nurse'. He proceeds to tell me, ' you're fine, you're ok' All the while I am saying... 'no I'm not, get the nurse, get the nurse, get the nurse! The nurse comes in, checks me and says... "oh my, he's crowning... we gotta wheel you into delivery. DONT push!"

As they were wheeling me in to the delivery room, I am saying.. "What about my epidural?" - over and over again. They knew I was scared so gave me a pudenal block - DONT EVER GET ONE OF THOSE!!! The shot hurt worse than labor itself and wore off during delivery.

Anyhoo - Glennie popped out in 20 minutes time and I felt GREAT afterwards. Like I just got done a great exercise routine! LOL - seriously.. I did.. was up and at it and makeup hair etc done, I felt great.

Crazy to think how time flies & how fast kids grow!

VIVA Las Vegas!

While the kids were away, the parents will play!! :)

The kids went on a pioneer trek, across the Wyoming plains and we thought, 'hey.... why should we be stuck at home'. So, we high tailed it out of Denver into the desert heat of Sin City.

We stayed at the Monte Carlo - kinda in the center of the action. Was fun to walk out of the hotel and across the street to M&M World - seriously FUN store!!

We left after dropping the kids off at the stake center for their trek. Our plane was a tad bit late - but we were entertained with some airport drama. A young family got to the gate just as the doors were closing and the man got just a TAD irate that he missed his plane. He was yelling at the lady behind the counter which turned into some racial slurs... the lady called the cops and 4 cops came and calmed the guy down. Our whole section of the airport was SO quiet listening to this man, berate this woman. His poor wife, just sat away from them - quiet as could be - I'm sure she was a tad bit embarrased. So there was our Vegas pre-entertainment.

We got into town, checked into the hotel, met up with Kathy & Alan and took off to meet Trish & Gregg at Dicks Last Resort (http://dickslastresort.com/) at the Excalibur. What a FUNNY place - they were rude, obnoxious and downright funny. We laughed the WHOLE time. Those who ordered water were forced to share. Our water came out in pitchers with HUGE straws out of them. It was Hilarious. They wouldn't bring us menus - in fact told us to get off our butts and go look at the ones posted on the wall. Need napkins?? Well they will just throw them at ya!! LOL... It was a great way to start the trip.

Then we saw the Bellagio and had dessert at the Bellagio. We went swimming a couple times and saw most all the hotels. Ate at Excalibur, NY NY, Luxor, Venetian and Monte Carlo. We saw some AMAZING shows.. KA at the MGM and Le Reve at the Wynn. Now for the pictures!!

Altitude Sickness and a Hike

Yep - I got it!! I had a headache, a bloody nose, fatigue (duh - a hike will do that to you), loss of appetite & some minor swelling. I put our hike into sparkpeople and it said I burned 3045 calories. Yeah - that's not a typo - it was over 3,000 calories burned!! WAHOOOO - Ummm, hello - then why didn't I lose any weight... that was until today. I think the swelling and all my symptoms finally left. I dropped 2lbs!!

The headache stayed with me the rest of camping and for a couple days afterwards. In fact it was finally gone today. I took it easy and didn't workout yesterday morning, rather had a leisure day and just hung out with Glenn, went to the pool and grocery shopped.

So while camping, we decided to go on a hike with everyone. According to an app on my phone, Brainard Lake is at 10,300' in elevation and we hiked to Blue Lake which is 11,500' in elevation. So 3 miles uphill and a 1,200' gain.

A camping we wil go!! We took our annual camping trip to Pawnee Campground @ Brainard Lake Recreation Area. It's Colorado beauty at it's finest!! We were worried this year, since we were robbed last year while we were camping, but all turned out peachy keen this year!! :)

So we had a MASSIVE hailstorm here. It was quite exciting. Being the storm chaser that I am (well on the inside at least) I was upstairs taking photos while the sirens were going off. I got some good photos and sent them into our local news station. They called me and had a 'live' interview with me over the phone. It was SO cool. Check it out.

Spring Break

I had some window washers and painters come to my house for Spring Break. It is such a good thing that workers are hard up for money now a days. I got some pretty cheap labor - $20 a person in fact. The boy even threw in a free paint job!! Man... that's what I call a screamin' deal!! :)

Here's the window washer dude... look at that concentration - even his tongue is stickin' out!! LOL (he actually looks a tad bit buff too) ;-]

Now the other half of the window washers is this girl here. She looks like she got attacked by Freddy Krueger in the middle of the night tho - check out that Freddy Kreuger shirt - I'd hate to have her nightmares.
So - yeah - I got my blinds dusted and windows cleaned on the inside by Kreuger's sidekick there and that ripped dude who likes to stick his tongue out cleaned the windows on the outside and my screens too. Sweetness... Need to hire these two more often!! They did an AWESOME job...maybe next time they'll even get paid more too. So if any one out there needs their windows done... call me - I can set you up with Kreuger girl and ripped/tongue dude!! :)

Now onto the 3 days worth of a painting project!! I've had Glenn's comforter for a few years. I am ashamed to say - I have NEVER in his 16.5 yrs on this earth - ever painted a room for him. Now he seems to be putting his clothes away in his drawers and hanging them up...making his bed every day and opening his blinds... I think to myself... I should have done this YEARS ago!! Maybe all those arguments would have been avoided!!

Glenn(ie) and I painted the tan on, then Glenn and I painted the cream that same evening. We had to let it dry a whole day before we taped over the cream. I had to 'test' the red - to make sure it was gonna work.
So the next evening, we taped over the cream then started with the red and touched up the tan from the ceiling to the stripe and the tan below the stripes. We had to put 4 coats of red on the wall... so finished it up the 3rd day - and wah-la - the end result is quite awesome!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Our morning ran like this... remember - Glennie is 16 now.. 16. Glennie got up at 1:15...opened his stocking stuffers and organized the presents then went into the basement and played Xbox. Glenn woke up at 2 ish... checked on the kids and found Glennie in the basement... kicked him off and made him go back to bed.. at which point then Glennie snuck out AGAIN went into the family room and read a book till he fell asleep on the couch. Nerd Bucket! Kaitlin got up at 5:30 and woke him up... at which point they tried to get us up. We managed to talk them into 6 and started our fun then. Here are some photos of our fun.

Indoor Skydiving

So Saturday night we went on a double date with our great friends The Call's. You see, we have been planning this adventure for - well forever. Last Christmas I gave Glenn a gift certificate to the Indoor Skydiving place here in Colorado. Lisa had given Alan a gift certificate too, so we finally decided to go last night. Lisa and I had a blast watching them and others and Glenn and Alan said they had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat!!

They each had 2 minutes of flying time. They went in for 1 minute and then sat and waited their turn again, to do their last minute.

Ohhh my goodness!! This video is SOO funny. Maybe it's a 'you just had to be there moment' but I totally have to share it anyway.

Glenn had a game night/b-day party the other weekend. We had our friends, Alan and Lisa over and the kids had a couple friends from school come over.

I don't know who started this, but, someone thought it would be fun to run from my family room and slide in my kitchen...it was a contest to see who could go the farthest. Tori, Nick and Alan were the ones having a grand ol' time and we had a blast watching them. At one point I sprayed pledge on a rag and wiped the hardwood floor down, in hopes that would speed them up. It was funny watching them almost biff it.

Sorry the video is sideways, I can't figure out how to turn it the right way!! SO sit back and tilt your head :) and hopefully you'll laugh.

So Glenn turned 16 a couple weeks ago. We gave him some choices; Do you want presents to open? OR Do you want to go paintballin' with some friends, all expenses paid?

I can't believe it, my son turned 16.

We had a family birthday party for my niece, Abby and Glenn. Abby's b-day is the 7th and Glenn's is the 10th. It's kinda funny and I hadn't noticed it till now, but Abby was turning 8 as Glennie was turning 16....1/2 the age. I thought that was kinda cool.

So we had a family get together, made spaghetti and meatballs, their favorite, and had cake and ice cream and cream puffs. We did cream puffs/eclairs for Glennie since Sara had cake and ice cream already for Abby.

My not so little boy!! I still can't believe he is 16 now!! Sheeeesshhhhkaaa where does time go??
OK... I had to throw this photo in here. Abby give the BEST looks!!! I'm not kidding you either - she is the best at her looks....I think it's funny... but I'm not her mom!! LOL :) So because she gives such great looks, we just had to wrap her present in a Cat Pan Liner box... I was hoping to get a look to kill... but....

she saw the present in the opening and was relieved not to get plastic bags!! :) She is the cutest thing with the most spit fire attitude ever. She absolutely adores her Uncle Glenn.... it's very cute to watch.

Here's Glenn opening his presents from Jeff and Sara and Oma and Pampa. He scored big and went shopping already. He got 2000 paint balls for his paint ball gun. All he wanted from Glenn and I, was for him and some friends to go paint balling at a paint ball place. Hopefully I'll be brave enough to stick around there and take some photos.

We took a little trip to UT. We lived there for a total of 9 years before moving to Colorado. We decided since we weren't in the Steamboat Springs soccer tournament this year, we would head out of town anyway and to UT it was. Turns out my best friend, Trish, was heading there too the same weekend!! We used to live just down the street from them and became instant friends.

So we spent Friday - Monday in Salt Lake. We priceline'd a hotel and got the Hilton downtown for $64 a night. Normally $160/night. Needless to say I was happy and excited. We were hoping for the Marriott since it has access to the mall, but ended up getting the Hilton.

So Friday's first stop was MORELIA'S. All I can say is, as I am typing this my mouth is watering. Mmmmm...ohhhh sooooo good. Chile Verde Chimichanga... fresh salsa...mmmmm
After Morelia's we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. We thought it would be a good thing for the kids to do... something that they are old enough to remember. They've been in other open houses...but they were little and don't remember it. What a great way to start our trip. We took a drive up to Logan to see where the kids were born. We drove by our little apartment.. drove up the rode that Glenn would bike to school, to be told by Glennie... "that's not that big of a hill... I can easily do it!!" Drove by the hospital they were born at, had lunch @ Sizzler - believe it or not... we actually miss Sizzler. We were surprised how much Logan has grown. But I guess it was 14 years ago that we left there.

Kaitlin was just as excited to see Kylee as I was to see Trish!! Kylee and Kaitlin have been friends since they were 3. So Kylee got to come spend the night with us at our hotel since the next day we were meeting them in Tooele to check out our old houses. We headed out to Tooele the next day, drove by the old houses and went to our hang out spot... "Dairy Delight". This was the ONLY place that sold Diet Coke's with Vanilla...and it was mine and Tricia's spot most mornings to get our vanilla cokes!! We do love their bacon swiss burgers too... so just had to stop in for one of those. Both my Glenn's got the 'Old fashioned" it's 1/2lb and as big as their heads! They made it a contest to see who got done first... Glennie had a head start...but Glenn managed to win. They both finished and were oh, so proud!!

After Tooele, we headed to Temple Square...did some touring and exploring and then crashed at Olive Garden for some eatin' before heading back to the hotel. We had some leftovers and no place to put them, so the boys took off with our boxes to find a bum and give them a meal.

We headed out of town last weekend and went camping at Pawnee Campground at Brainard Lake. Sooo much fun and so nice to get out of the heat. The nights were nippy and the days perfect. This is one of those places that if you don't have a spot reserved by February then you are out of luck.

We went with my brother, Jeff, SIL Sara and their kids. We all had such a good time and plan on making it a yearly thing.

Either way... we've hit and passed our limit.

1. Kaitlin's cell phone got water damage - no insurance

2. My cooktop cracked and needs to be replaced - no more warranty

3. Our home was burglarized and sentimental possessions were stolen. A total of at least $8,800 worth of stuff. :(

4. My kitty Zoey fell 12-13' off our banister onto the tile floor below and landed on her face. Imagine a cat with a bloody nose??? Not normal. LUCKILY the vet says no broken bones and she will be fine.

We're done, now can we go on living, please??

Lazy Days of Summer

"I'm 'uber' bored" - tends to be the trend for the summer around the Ellis household. The kids are bored and constantly ask me... 'What are we doing today Mom??' If I have an appraisal sometimes they come along. They know they will usually get a lunch out of it!! Kaitlin announced the other day 'I dont even get paid to help you'... I replied... sure you do... through competitive soccer!! The dues and tournaments are outrageous - so it's pay back!! :)

All too soon, we will be running around with our heads cut off doing school stuff, choir concerts, band concerts, soccer practice and games all the while forgetting what an 'uber' boring summer it was. Maybe we should be grateful for this down time! :)

Not much to blog about lately...

Zoey got bit or scratched by Izzy which got infected and then abscessed....she still has an open wound....purdy disgusting too. At least she doesn't have a fever anymore and is back to her cute playful self. The vet told me she is pretty much full grown - so fun for us to always have a small petite kitty...altho- they told me she can grow as wide as she is long, since she is the type that gets bored and wants to graze on food all day!!

Garden's a growing - so far no mole in the garden. We've see a few mole holes in the landscaping behind the house and have 1 hole in a flower bed area... but so far the garden is spared!! Can't wait for fresh corn on the cob!! We've purchased some at grocery stores... it's just not the same as FRESH corn from the garden or the farm!!
This is Glenn's 6th year on a softball team with guys from the ward. His games are every Tuesday night. We have fun watching Glenn play - Go go daddy-ooooo

Chatfield Fun

David & Collette were in town and called to invite us to a day of jet skiing at Chatfield!! We have NEVER been before so what a treat. We had the best time ever. My kids were a tad bit nervous to head out there, I almost had to force them at first. They were just being shy boogers!! Glenn took David back to the boat dock to get their cooler and stuff, so Collette's ready to go and said, 'Who's coming?'... my kids fought...'Glennie your oldest', 'No... Kaitlin the your the youngest so youngest goes first', 'No Glennie, your a boy, boys go first'... 'We'll just wait for dad' .... etc... they were both SO nervous. Finally after a couple minutes of persuading, Glennie went first and came back with a HUGE grin on his face... and Collette said, "He's crazy!!" LOL!!! :) Then Kaitlin went...

Yeppers, they actually got me out there. After we got home and I looked at the photos... I about died laughing at myself and can't believe I went out there looking like that... but you know what - I had fun and that's all that mattered!! This was the 'best' photo of me - by best, I mean most hidden (hee hee) :)

David & Collette rented a tube too, so they got to go tubing. I have some video of that... soooo much fun. (check the videos out below) I think Kaitlin was the first to go tubing. Glenn and I said to Kaitlin, 'when you fall off...' All of a sudden she had that deer in the headlight look... like... what?? I am gonna fall off?? What do you mean I will fall off!! She looked like she was second guessing herself for doing it, then off they went!! It was one of those priceless moments!! :)

When Glennie got on the tube, David said he was testing Glennie to see how well he could do. So he took many corners and went faster... we had some good laughs from the beach. Glennie held on for a bit and then biffed it.

I L.O.V.E Colorado weather!!

So we get home from church today and start puttering in the kitchen for lunch. I look out the slider and thought... hmmmm that cloud looks like it's starting to form into something. So all our interests are peaked... we notice it's getting bigger and definatley a funnel cloud. Getting bigger

Welp... they say to wait until Mother's Day weekend to plant a garden... so that's just what we did. The day after mothers day we were out there planting away and we can't wait till we see some green peaking through the soil. We figure should be the end of this week... then when they get a few inches we'll go through and thin everything out. It's so much fun watching veggies grow.

We planted 4 rows of corn, wax beans, green beans, snow peas, peas, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and pumpkin. We are hoping our dear ol mole does not return...time will tell. Our mole ate about 1/2 our crop last year, he pulled stalks of corn down his hole, whole melon plants, cucumbers etc. I hope he's gone... but have a sneaky feeling he is gonna come back our way.

Lady Thunderhawks Varsity Soccer

The school year is wrapping up. We just had a soccer banquet for PVHS girls soccer teams. All the girls showed up with yearbooks in tow to sign!!

Kaitlin was on the varsity team and got her letter. She was also awarded an all academic selection in the league and academic all state first team with CHSAA. Way cool, way awesome stuff for her!! Way to go Kaitlin!!

Another year of school is winding down. The years sure do fly by... the kids grow up SOOO fast. Before we know it they will be on their own.. wahhhhhh :(

I truly wish I could freeze this time of our lives and keep living it forever!! I love having teenagers!! They are a hoot!!

Last night the kids had the band/choir gala. The PVHS staff cooked hot dogs and hamburgers, while everyone brought stuff to go along. It was nice to be outside - even if the acoustics aren't the best - just nice to have something different for a change. Glenn says he is moving to Trubador's choir next year...audition/selection only group and he made it. Good for him!! Kaitlin was gonna give up band, but decided to stick with it and continue to play the flute. She is grateful that marching band isn't mandatory anymore! :)

I have totally neglected my blog... sorta kinda... been too busy with work!! Right now I should be writing up an appraisal... but I just dont wanna. I need some time away from work!!

Here's a glimpse into the past lil while

PVHS girls soccer went to the playoffs!! 1st year in PVHS history... they ended up losing 5-0, but what an accomplishment!! Way to go Thunderhawks.

My 3 year old washer broke. I had a WONDERFUL handyman fix it and it only cost me $61 to fix!! Pays to marry an engineer!! :) (Glennie's hair was painted gold for the PVHS/Brighton rivalry game)

Kaitlin had an abscessed tooth. She had a cavity filled in the fall... now it just started hurting her... we took her to the dentist which she couldn't get a root canal for over a week and 2 days after the dentist visit she swelled up. From her eye to her neck and the middle of her face to her ear. Thankful for antibiotics, the swelling went down and she got the root canal done today!! Sorry no photos - she wouldn't let me take any - do you blame her!! :)

I got my new comforter and painted my bedroom...not quite done...need to do the bathroom and then clean up the edges a tad more. When I make more money then I will get more decorations to pull it all together!

Basement theater room vinyl is done - Wahoo - still need to do my scrabble pieces...soooo not done yet.

Glennie started a reffing job for Reunion Rec. Center. Just till June 11...but it least it'll give him some money and some experience. He is now talking about taking a class to become state certified. We'll see if he really does like to ref after he gives this a shot!!

I got my Simple and Delicious magazine the other day. With it came a little insert of 'bonus recipes'. I made it and it was a hit, so I had to share!

Beef Taco Skillet
1 lb. ground beef
1 can tomato soup
1/2 C. salsa
1/2 C. water
6 flour tortillas(6") cut into 1" pieces
1/2 C. shredded cheddar cheese (I used more) :)
Brown beef in skillet, drain off liquid. Add tomato soup, salsa, water ad tortillas. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes. Stir, top with cheese. Makes 4 servings.

After persuading Glenn... he finally broke down and let me get a new comforter. My old one, we've had for 7 years... it's torn on the inside and when you keep pulling it up tears more and more. I've sewn it and it stayed for sometime.. but I am just sooo done with it. Sooo finally.. after searching some I found a comforter online for a stinking good deal. I can't wait to get it to finally decorate my bedroom - I've been having that itch to paint - so hurry up comforter and come already!

My furniture is maple.. and I was thinking about chocolate brown walls with some of that blue that's in the comforter... not quite sure what I am gonna do.. but the wheels are turning!!

We had to put our cat to sleep yesterday. We knew this day was coming, about 1 month ago. We've had her since she was born... 16 years ago... the same year as Glennie was born.

She was in kidney failure... She lost alot of weight.. forgot to pee in the litter box... ended up with lots of urinary tract infections etc. It was time... we talked about putting her to sleep over a month, but never did it. We even tried diapers for her.. which ended up giving us a good laugh and after a couple days, I think Scrawny actually liked them!! But those ended up not really working either. Even put her on estrogen to try and strengthen her bladder.. but that didn't work either. It was time..she lived a long and good - wayyyy spoiled - life!!

We told the kids when they are ready we can get another kitty... and surprisingly that's exactly what they wanted to do today. (I guess having a month to know scrawny was leaving was enough time to say goodbye and start thinking about the little meow's of a kitten). We went to the animal shelter and adopted an 8 month old calico kitty. She gets to come home with us next Wednesday after she gets spayed. So now we are trying to figure out names for the new family member and we HOPE that Izzy gets along with her!! Pictures to come when we get her home!

Fight...fight...fight

'Fighting is for wimps' that said by Glennie... he's the type of kid that will not throw a punch. He likes to use his 'soccer skills' - slide tackling, kicking, stepping on their feet, maybe throwing an elbow here or there... but has never thrown a punch (nor did he in the game).

Last Saturday he had a soccer game. We played Colorado Elite from Douglas County... it was a VERY good game, but the ref's let it get a little out of hand. There were fouls not called and the boys soon learned they could take it up a notch - on both sides. I'll tell ya, those boys on the Elite team should be given an Oscar for their great acting... wow... never seen it so good. Literally.. holding onto one of our players arms, then falling to the ground (our guy did not throw him down) and then he flopped on the ground raising his hands waiting for the ref to call a foul. Neither ref saw the so called 'foul'...but since he was on the ground...by golly there must have been something - RIGHT?? Smart kid that boy was... he got the foul and a PK at that... and lucky for them they scored.

The game ended in a tie 3-3. Our keeper made a mistake - mind you, he is a phenomenal keeper, just made a mistake - poor kid... he let their 3rd goal in within the last 2 minutes of the game. When the game ended, he was walking off the field, head down and shoulders slumped over... many of us on the sidelines were chatting by now, putting away our chairs and we hear, 'Fight...fight...' I looked to the other side of the field and our keeper was on the ground with what looked like the whole opposing team dog piled on top of him. Sooo what do you think happened... boys were coming to their teammates rescue... so there were punches thrown... on both sides.. sad to see a great game end this way. So now we are out 2 players for the next couple games... they got red cards... and we hear - for some reason - the other team got off scott free. WHATS UP WITH THAT??

I have to tell you how proud I was with the Club. They were not very happy with the boys for fighting... so after the game was over they spent about 20 minutes getting a talkin' to and had to do planks and push ups!! Here's what planks look like... I tell ya... having done them myself they are a KILLER!!! So the boys held these planks for quite some time... planks, then push ups, back to planks and then pushups... etc.

I was SOO impressed with the club... fighting is unnecessary and was glad the club 'punished' our boys. I was sad to see the other coach and his team walking off the field like they had no part in it. Sad - they threw punches too, they dog piled our keeper - it takes 2 to tango...
Scary thing is - we play them again May 2nd...

Not much going on around here lately. Everyones getting over some colds/sickness, we are still working on completing the basement - have odds and ends stuff left to do. We've been to many soccer games lately... that's always fun and the highlight of our weeks. We have about 3 games per week lately... 2 for high school and 1 club game. Tonight we have one at Prairie View... should be fun - another cold one tho - tired of the cold.. can't wait till it warms up some.

Kaitlin is doing good on Varisty - she's a starter so that's awesome. Tuesday she played the whole game in Castle Rock... tonight we are hoping for the same since her club coach will be attending the game.

Glennie is loving his new team.... the boys are all great, they all get along and the parents are really nice too. It's been fun getting to know a bunch of new people. Soccer is our life and we look forward to every game. I think, when the kids are grown and gone Glenn and I will be extremely bored... Rapid season tickets here we come!! :)
We got our theater room chairs and watched Heroes in the Theater room Monday night. What fun that was!! Altho- now I wish we had DVR in there.. hate watching commercials.
The pool table is set up and numerous games of pool have been played. Kaitlin and I are a good match while Glenn and Glennie are a good match.

YAY!! Finally...
We still have some things to do.. the counter for the wet bar area (cuz now the lights look off center... but as soon as we get the counter up it will be perfecto).. we need the doors shaved a tad - they are rubbing on the carpet, the water hooked up in the bathroom, fixtures in place, cork board for the dart board area, theater room chairs and the pool table set up. I LOVE the carpet... I wish I had it upstairs... it's so soft and squishy. Check it out

SLAPPED.....SPANKED.... CRUSHED

Poor guys... we got slapped, spanked and crushed in the Arizona tournament. Guess that happens when you play 3 teams that are ranked in the top 10 in the state. We lost every game, 1st one was 5-0 second one was 6-1 and the last game was 9-0. Even though they got their butts kicked... they still had a good time as a team and getting to know each other. It was fun to be in another state with nice weather - where flip flops and capri's were just peachy keen. My feet get very angry at me if they have to wear shoes too long... so my feet were very happy!! :)

Also Grandma and Grandpa were there for a Square Dancing thing, so they came and watched every game with us, visited us in our hotel etc. Here's some photos

My not so little boy, just got his driver's permit...

I can't believe we are in this phase of our lives already. I remember getting my permit, what seems not so long ago. The rules have sure changed from when I got my permit/license. Back in the day, you have driver's ed in school, then get your permit and when you turn 16 you get your license. Here, there was a couple options to choose from.. turn 15 pay $300-$400 for a 1 week class and so many hours of driving with an instructor get your permit and then drive 50 hours with mom and dad 10 of those being at night. OR wait until your 15 1/2 take a $30 drivers awareness (alive at 25 type class) get your permit and drive 50 hours with mom and dad(10 of which are at night). Both permits you have to have for 1 full year before you can get your license!! We opted for the 2nd choice... it costs less money.

After he got his permit, I took him on some unpopulated roads in Reunion to get a feel for the car... you forget what comes naturally to you. I told him to put his foot on the brake before putting it into gear... he did and was ready to put it into drive... then realized he was just resting his foot on the brake.. I guess he took 'put your foot on the brake' literally!! :) I guess I need to be more specific - put your foot on the brake and apply pressure!!!! LOL!!

He did great... drove around for about 15 minutes and decided to call it quits!! It was time to go back to school anyway!!

Basement Status

Brandon, the guy who did the drywall/mud/tape and texture, wrapped everything up and got done in 1 week... WOW.. amazing. (go here http://brandonsbasements.blogspot.com/ to his website) We couldn't believe how fast he got done and what a great job they did!!
Today Glenn sprayed the primer on and white ceiling paint. We are gonna roll the rest and paint in the next couple of days. It is looking so good.. we can't wait to have it done. Glenn has next Friday and the following Monday off and hopefully we can complete most everything then - cuz then after that the soccer season is in full swing and our Saturdays will likely be filled with outdoor, sunshine, fun and exciting times. Glennie had a scrimmage this morning and it was SOOO exciting to see his new team out on a real field(not indoor like they have since November) - they did awesome.. they played a U17 P2 team and tied them 1-1. (Glenn's team is U16 and ended up in Classic - thanks to CYS - oh well!! at least it looks like we will have one awesome season - slated to win most, if not, all our games)

Rec. Room... The recessed part in the wall will hold the cue sticks for the pool table - got a stinking good deal on the pool table 2 Christmases ago.. $100 a walmart. Cheap and chincee but who cares... it will serve the purpose. Also those 2 closets will serve as our food storage closets.

Check back in a couple days - I plan on taking more photos when we paint the colors. I can't wait!! This is my favorite part.. the trips we take now to Home Depot are MY kind of trips - brainstorming, decorating and having things pull together are some of my favorite things to do!!

I am SOOO excited!! Our basement is now officially drywalled. We *could* be painting in a couple weeks. I better start thinking colors - Trrriiissshhhhh when ya flying out here??? :) (I wish!)
We are having a guy from our ward do the drywall, mud/tape and texture. Glenn is SO excited watching it go up - and not having to worry about it. We are so surprised at how fast they do it!! The drywall went up in ONE day it would have taken Glenn at least a couple months. We are very pleased an excited!!

Something Smells Fishy

So I've been trying to incorporate more fish into our dinners. Oven fried fish we had one evening and we liked it - not loved it.. but tolerated it.
So a couple nights ago I made Tilapia Wraps. What a hit they were. Everyone like them... we'll definitely have fish this way again. You couldn't even tell you were eating fish!! Here's the recipe

Tilapia Wraps (courtesy Taste of Home's Simple and Delicious Magazine)

3/4 C. salsa
1 can (4oz) chopped green chilies - I didn't have any so omitted this.. but this would be yummy.
6 tilapia filet's
2 TBSP olive oil
2 TBSP steak seasoning
12 flour tortillas, warmed
3/4 C. shredded cheddar cheese

In small bowl, combine salsa and chilies; set aside. Drizzle fillets with oil; sprinkle both sides with steak seasoning. Transfer to a large skillet. Cook uncovered over medium heat for 5-8 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Add reserved salsa mixture, stirring gently. (At this point I flaked the fish in the pan and then mixed it all up) Spoon a heaping 1/3 C. onto each tortilla; top with cheese. (I plopped back in the microwave to melt the cheese a tad) Roll up and serve immediately. Yields 6 servings.

Today was a day to reflect on my mom and the short time I had with her in this life. Mom passed away 4 years ago -today, the 16th, - hard to believe that it's already been 4 years! My mom and I were EXTREMLEY close... she was my best friend (besides Glenn of course!! :))
She wrote in her her journal, "Tara is more than a daughter to me, we connect spirit to spirit"

I was the type of daughter who didnt let mom leave my site. I hated going to girls camp because I would have to leave her, I never liked spending the nights at friends houses cuz I would have to be away from her. I was a true blue momma's girl!! My poor mom!! :)

Here's a bit of my mom, a wonderful woman- caring, empathetic, fun loving, loving, kind, considerate, compassionate, charitable, wonderful example and just plain awesome mom to have had. She was such the good example, to me, her grandkids and all those around her who knew her. Always had a smile on her face and willing to help wherever needed. I love her and miss her terribly and can't wait to be reunited with her some day. It kinda stinks having her gone sometimes... but I KNOW the joy she has where she is!! I KNOW she is watching over us and she's our very own angel!!

You know, you get over mourning and grieving for someone, but it doesnt mean you never stop missing them. I will ALWAYS miss my mom. I love you mom!!

We had this for dinner tonight.. it made enough that we have probably 2 nights of leftovers. I ended up with a picnic style pork roast, once we cut the netting off, we had 1/2 the roast. I shredded the other portion and mixed with BBQ sauce - made extra mashed potatoes so we can have a BBQ pulled pork dinner with mashed taters another night. Love it when it works out like that! With 2 indoor games this week - at dinner time no less, that extra & easy dinner will come in handy.

Anyway - I got this recipe from my simple and delicious magazine. We've had it a few times and always enjoy.

Teriyaki Pork Roast

1 boneless pork shoulder roast (3-4 lbs trimmed)

1 C. packed brown sugar

1/3 C. apple juice

1/3 C. soy sauce

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 TBSP cornstarch

3 TBSP cold water

Cut roast in half; rub with brown sugar. Place in a 5qt slow cooker. Pour apple juice and soy sauce over roast. Sprinkler with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 6 - 6 1/2 hrs. or untill meat is tender. Remove roast; cover and let stand 15 minutes. Meanwhile strain cooking juices and return to slow cooker. Combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; gradually stir into juices. Cover and cook on high for 15 minutes or until thickened. Slice pork serve with gravy. Goes great with mashed potatoes.

Kaitlin had 3 games last Monday and Glenn had 3 games last Tuesday - 6 total losses. They had the girls playing other teams 1 and 2 divisions higher than their division and for the boys they played 1-2 division higher and some 18 yr old teams!! Their winter sessions start this week. Kaitlin has 2 games but Glenn has a bye - so he doesn't start till the 12th. He'll start practicing this week... they have a tournament next month - so gotta get conditioned for it.

An Ellis Christmas...

Christmas has come and gone...the tree and decorations will soon be down - the house can be restored to order!! I love that feeling... altho- it seems so bare and empty.

Christmas Eve day I had 3 appraisals so took Glenn with me. We were home by 11 and he worked in the basement while I typed up the reports and started making dinner. We had Prime Rib with au jus, twice baked potatoes, corn in butter, rolls and Martinelli's - rootbeer for Glenn cuz he can't stand Martinelli's. It was so nice having a candlelight dinner and just the 4 of us. After dinner we cleaned up and the kids got to open 2 presents... tradition... PJ's and an ornament. Here's a photo of the kids in their PJ's. Christmas Morning... usually they kids wake us up at 5 - YES I said 5 - I know we are crazy - but this year the kids let us sleep till 7. Altho- they did get up at 2 something in the morning....again tradition... my brother and I started this tradition and my kids GLADLY carry it on. They are allowed to open the presents in their stockings (usually little stuff) and they can organize the presents. So they got up... and Glenn didn't like them up and being noisy - so they went back to bed at 2:30.

Kaitlin has got to take that tonsil shot every year!! She has to post her funny tonsil picture of herself on her blog - I dare you Kaitlin!!!! :)

The BIG surpirse present!! We have ALWAYS told them - time and time again - "they don't need cell phones - they WANT cell phones. They can't have a cell phone until they get a job and buy one for themselves" Welp - this year I have seen a need for phones... they have 'borrowed' mine on numerous occasions. So Black Friday shopping day Glenn and I were out, they had a stinking good deal on some phones and I twisted Glenn's arm enough that we got them new phones. It was sooo hard keeping that a secret from them for a month - expecially when they would plead with me how much they 'needed' one!! They were SOOOO surprised and SOOO happy. It was fun making their day a HUGE success!!

Checking out their new phones... they tell me they will be texting more than they will be talking - so we'll see!! Already seems to be true - since that's all they've been doing the past day! Seems alot of their friends are happy they have cell phones (what a home phone isn't good enough anymore?? )

Once we got the the craziness from the morning cleaned up and everything organized we got ready for round 2. My dad & his wife and her son, my brother & wife and their 6 kids were over at 3. We had a ham with some fixings and celebrated round 2.

Band Concert

Kaitlin had her winter band concert - it was nice - BUT it was wayyyy too long. A little over 2 hours... We didn't get home till 9:30 - tell me, why did they schedule this the week of finals??
Kaitlin did a good job. She wasn't looking forward to it, since she had to wear her new band uniform. She tells me she is dropping band next year cuz she doesn't want to march in the marching band (and he made it mandatory if you are in band you have to march) and she can't stand the band uniforms!! :)

She plays the flute and picked it up rather quickly. When she started in 7th grade she advanced from beginning band to regular band and now she is 2 points away from being 1st chair.. 1 point from 2nd chair. 1st, 2nd and 3rd chairs are all soooo close!

I think the band uniforms are pretty spiffy lookin' but don't blame her for not wanting to wear it - I would have been the same way!!

I absolutley LOVE this time of year and seeing all the pretty lights (not some of the LED ones - they seem so off to me).
I had fun shopping after Christmas last year and got lots of new things. It was Christmas morning putting up all my new decorations. We changed where my villages went and Glenn built me a new set up so I can expand my villages. That is one of my favorite things to put up. I decided my 9' tree was just TOO big and kept it in the box. So last year I got a 7.5 ft pre lit slim tree for $25 and we put that one up instead. I love having 2 trees, had 2 growing up and just like having 2. One is pretty and has a theme and the other is fun family tree.

A Fun Week

Last week Glenn had an indoor soccer game with his new team. They played the Elite team and got their butts kicked.. but it was still fun to watch. In this video Glenn almost had a goal!! He just kicked it a little too far in front of him so the goalie got it!

The following Sunday we got 4 extra kids staying with us. We always wanted 6 kids and have experienced that this week. It's been crazy, it's been fun and the Xbox Nazi in me started coming out!! :) Once the boys cleaned up and did what I asked they were able to play again. They are great kids and we loved having them over.

We had 4 teenagers - two 15 yr old boys - Glenn and Nick, one 14 yr old girl - Kaitlin, one 13 yr old boy - Tyler, one 10 yr old boy - Parker and one 7 yr old girl - Cassie. The first night they were here Parker and our treadmill got into a fight and the treadmill won. Parker, Tyler and both Glenn's were playing in our exercise room & Parker was running on the treadmill - turned it up to 10mph.. was doing OK.. Tyler said something to him then Parker lost his concentration and fell, twisted around and the treadmill threw him into the wall. He had some treadmill burns on his shoulder and face - ended up with a puffy eye(I had a photo but can't find it!!) Once the bruise started to heal his eye looked like he had eye shadow on!! He was such a trooper about it too - poor thing. We felt SOOO bad!!

We had them for turkey day at my brothers house, so with our 6 kids and his 6 kids plus everyone else made for a full house!! I think they had 23 people.. it was fun!! At least Cassie had another girl her same age. She didn't want to come back home!

Cassie made sure she got in the hot tub twice a day and last night they spent it in the hot tub during our first measurable snowfall - throwing snowballs at the house, fence and jumping on the tramp and jumping back in the hot tub. They had a blast and it was one week of an endless sleepover that comes to an end tonight!! Bummer for the kids... peace for the parents. :) We just really wished we had the theater room/game room complete so they could have had more fun!

A little bit of this first: Glennie did a flip flop. We had signed a letter of commitment with Rush and then the U16 P2 Westminster coach called the end of that week. He *really* wanted Glennie on the team. So after all the pro's and con's and deliberation again, Glenn decided he wanted to play for Westminster. We found out that he had until Nov. 15th to back out of the Rush commitment. So he did. YAY - now the Call's and Ellis' can have fun together at games. Glennie's indoor season started this past Thursday.... and he had a blast. We also found out that he will be in a tournament in Gilbert, AZ come February. We now have both kids playing for Westy and hope to be there till they are done with competitive soccer.

Now onto the bigger stuff. We are in the process of finishing our basement. Below is the floor plan Glenn drew up. The storage room will double as a closet and have access to under the stair storage too. There will be 2 food storage closets across from the utilities and where it says 'study' will actually be a home theater room. The family room/rec. room will consist of a small pub style table with a pool table(the pool table we got on sale at Walmart last Christmas Eve for $100!!!!!!) and a wet bar. We have moved the wet bar to the end of the wall near the corner there. We have all the electricity done and working... the water lines for the wet bar have been started... and we need to chisel the bathroom concrete to move all the rough in plumbing - fun fun! Glenn has done everything himself and we are looking to hire out someone to do the drywall/mud and taping. Depending on the cost!! He's done it before and knows how much he hates it... but if it's too expensive then he'll do it!!

When we moved in, we tore up all the carpet and pad the builder put in upstairs and put it in the basement. We figured with the theater room, probably being noisy and my office is right above it, we added some padding in between the studs and joists. This is the bedroom. We contemplated what to do here for a while. We had this pipe that stuck out and we had to build around it. We thought of a night stand, but it wasn't centered.. so we ended up with a 1/2 wall. The bottom part of the wall will kick out, till almost half and then go back in. We've thought about building bookshelves or something on the top.. but for now.. we'll just have a bump out in the wall.

The Decision

Kaitlin's last day of soccer was Saturday - wahhhh. I really LOVE soccer season. I love watching the kids play and am amazed how good they are becoming.
Kaitlins team won 3-2.. tough fought battle too. The team they played had not lost a game... they tied games but never lost. Kaitlins team came in 4th out of 18 teams. Looks like they are moving on to classic.

As Kaitlins season is winding down, tryouts for highschool boys are in full swing. After attending 3 kickarounds and 3 tryouts he ended up making two P2(premier level) teams with 2 different clubs. He had himself a HUGE decision.

Rush vs Westminster

Rush has a coach from Germany - played professional soccer there, coached in Germany and blew us away at a training session we went to. Assistant coach played in Mexico and coached there. Knows alot of the boys, will play most the game and in the sweeper position which is his 'shining' spot. Team of 15 boys

Westy has a highschool assistant coach that taken their varsity boys to the state finals and are doing amazing. They also have a team higher (Elite III) and that coach is the mens head soccer coach at Regis University... which they will be doing some training sessions with. He and his friend - Nick- would be on the same team (So Lisa and I would have LOADS of fun at the games and tournaments) They carry a roster of 17 boys and he would be playing somewhere in defense.

So the pros and cons and deliberation began. We told Glenn to pray about it, list the pros and cons, look at everything, talk to his friends and make a decision. He called me the next day and said.. he is going with Rush. Purely a decision made on play time. He knows he'll play his favorite position and get more play time than Westy.

I was so happy he made a decision - Glenn and I couldn't have decided. I have to admit... I am sad.. the selfish part of me is sad. The Call's and the Ellis' could have had SOOOOO much fun... wahhhhhh

Guess we'll see if the right decision was made - if not - there's always next year!!

This was the first year the kids did not go trick or treating. Still, the kids got dressed up, Kaitlin answered the door and Glennie hid in the bushes or under the swing to scare people.. dont worry no one was scared!! Maybe 2 girls who thought they saw something!! Kaitlin heard them say, 'I saw him - No really! I saw him - he's there!!!'

Kaitlin was a crazed prom girl and Glennie was a frozen army man. Kaitlin decided to do dad's hair - pink spray and lots of pony tails!

We had 98 trick or treaters and turned the lights off at 8:30. We were tired of answering the door by then. So here's our Halloween

Varsity soccer may be over but club is just beginning. Glenn went to a couple try outs and made a U15 P2 team with North Area Rush. However, today was all about school soccer and it was a big day for Glenn. We had the end of the season soccer banquet tonight where he was given his letter and pin. YAY!!!

I am going to hang it horizontally on the wall in the hall upstairs. So I have been digging around trying to find photos to put in the collage - not these ones here... but all of this is is bringing me back to the days the kids were little and the trying yet cute times we had with them. With Glennie and his ADHD, there were days, a lot of days, I would call my mom for advice on 'what to do? how to handle Glennie?" etc. She always had some answer but Glennie even managed to stump my mom.
I have thought about how much they have grown up and matured in the past few years. I can't help but think my mom had a hand in it. She always said she would be around for the 'teenage' years. Glennie has changed SOOO much and we are sooo proud of him. He's a completley different kid... totally off all med's and has come so far.

A couple weeks ago Glenn got his soccer photo we ordered... the only thing was they had his individual photo and then a picture of the JV team, which he is not on. I called Lifetouch and they sent me the right team!!

So here's Glenn's Varsity Highschool team. He is right in the center/middle - #8. Kaitlin is in the center/bottom. She is a team manager. She's had fun with that - get's to go to all the games - home and away.

This Thursday the kids are getting out of school all day for a game in Grand Junction. The school is chartering a bus, paying for the lunch and dinner and they will be getting home around 1:30AM. Glenn and I plan on taking the day off work and making that 4 hr drive.

That was then....

She was born on the 13th at 5:13 weighing 8lb 7 oz. When they brought her to me, I thought she wasn't mine. I thought she looked like a little mexican baby. She had a TON of hair and it was soooo dark. We put pillow curlers in her hair when she was 7 months old!! Cute!!

Here's my baby - 14 yrs old today. Time sure does fly!

She wanted to make her own birthday shirt. I found a black t-shirt at Walmart for $2 and bought some iron on letters, iron on glitter cupcake and glitter paint. She went to work and had fun being creative!

She handed out candy to her friends at school... wanted me to bring her subway for lunch - I threw in a diet vanilla coke too :P and for dinner it's her choice.... Malibu Chicken.

On a Mission

We have a problem - these are all over our back yard.

We noticed it got worse over the summer when our veggies were missing.... not kiddin' ya - he ate a whole row of my corn!! Not to mention my green beans, peas, watermelons, cantelope and cucumbers.... nasty lil booger!

Mr. Gopher poked his head up long enough for Glenn to 'fire in the hole' and he scared the thing.. time to move onto other means... super gassers (here he is lighting the thing) See the smoke coming out from the corner of the stone? Mission accomplished?? Time will tell. We have not seen a fresh mound of dirt since.. so hopefully he's gone for good!

Another Hit

Last night we had one of those evenings we could have a sit down dinner before heading out the door. So I tried a new recipe... it was another hit. It's called Sesame Chicken with Peanut Sauce. I got it from this webiste http://www.stephskitchen.com/ I love going here for ideas, she has TONS of GREAT recipes!! I highly recommend getting the basmatti rice... it was sooo good! It was sticky and had a little hint of sweetness to it.

Sesame Chicken with Peanut Sauce
1 cup basmatti rice
2 tbsp. creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
3/4 cup fat free chicken broth
2 tbsp. lite soy sauce
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp. cornstarch
Cooking spray
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
1 tbsp. sesame seeds
2 green onions, sliced (I omitted)

1. Cook rice according to package directions. Mix peanut butter, honey, broth, soy sauce, ginger, cayenne, garlic and cornstarch together; set aside.
2. Coat a large nonstick skillet with spray. Add the chicken stir-fry over high heat until the chicken is cooked through, 5-6 minutes. Add the sesame seeds and stir-fry for 30 more seconds. Reduce heat to medium-high; pour the peanut sauce and onions into the skillet and cook while stirring for 2 minutes. Serve over rice. Yield: 4 servings.

Glenn's parents came into town last week and they got to see (& be a part of) our crazy life!!

They got to see one of Glenn's highschool games and Kaitlin's club game. We had good weather when they were here, a little warm... but exactly the way Grandma would have it for a Saturday afternoon soccer game. :)

Things we did with Grandma and Grandpa: took them on a tour of Glenn's projects - watching Glenn get yelled at by a flagger :), watching traffic switch over on 104th Ave. - realizing they didn't do it as Glenn wanted them to do, watching Glenn talk to his contractor, going through custom tour of homes, having dinner at my brother and sister in law's house, driving by the PVHS/BHS football game so grandma and grandpa could hear the band playing (kaitlin was there playing that evening), enjoying a 'linner' at Olive Garden (thanks grandma and grandpa), running errands, getting sonic ice cream, playing sequence - realizing you want to have Kaitlin on your team.. she won more than anyone else. =) Just hung around here since we had so many 'life' things happening.

The day they left we had another soccer game that evening at Westminster Highschool. Our boys lost again.

Then Tuesday they had another game at home against Denver West. It was a well fought game and almost tied it up but fell short 4-3. Here's a slide tackle Glenn did in the game.

Glenn's Highschool game against Aurora

We figure they'd lose this game.. which they did. 10-0... in fact stopped the time for the mercy rule. Same thing happened at their game last Wednesday... oh well...

Anyway - Glenn had a pretty good game and here is some video of it.

This one is of Glenn doing a free kick then he ends up carrying the ball. He kicked it a little too far in front of him and Aurora took it away. Hector knocked the ball with his foot then head. The ref's thought he got a hand ball so blew the whistle and called a PK on it. They ended up scoring the last goal then...

Here Glenn took the ball away from someone.

This is Scrawny and Glennie - back in the good ole days!! Isn't he just the cutest baby ever?!? :)

My cat - Scrawny... she is old -15 yrs old. She is getting to be a very crotchety old lady - she has almost no teeth, walks with a limp, snores, whines etc... Well now she is starting to pee/poo on rugs in the house. Her litter box can be perfectly clean - but I guess not as clean as the old lady would like it. So she decides to use my bathroom rugs or a kitchen rug. Which now - have all been thrown away!!
Saturday we came home from Kaitlin's soccer game and running errands and there was a pile a poo on the kitchen rug. We are trying to find her to punish her but I needed to get dinner started so I start filling up the corn pot with water(yes - all we have is corn on the cob - I know I am weird!! It comes from my dad and my pepe..). I forgot the poo was there and stepped - barefoot - right into it!! EEEEEEeeeeeewwwwwww
So we find her, rub her nose near it, spank her nose tell her bad etc... and she stayed clear of us the rest of the night. So all is well... until this morning.. I see she pee'd on the bathroom rug. I yell at her and she hides. She comes out of hiding and goes outside and becomes this ever grateful cute sweet cat!! She started drinking from the stream... we have been trying to get a photo of her doing that numerous times but she always stops. I caught her being cute today. It almost makes up for the brat she's been!!

Kaitlin had a game against Edge on Saturday. It was their first loss of the season - bummer! Here are some photos of the game.

Here is a clip from Kaitlin's game. It's a short one... I am trying out new things and need a larger memory card so I can shoot more video at the games... but it's something and it gives you a better feel for the games!! Watch closely - did Kaitlin knock her down?? =) Or did the girl trip?
